October 24th, 2019 @ 9:30 am  Ray County Library Board of Trustees Meeting 
  • Regular Monthly Meeting of the Ray County Library Board of Trustees. 

October 29th, 2019 @ 10:00 am-2:00 pm Medicare Open Enrollment
  • Looking to enroll or make changes to your Medicare coverage?  CLAIM (Community Leaders Assisting the Insured of Missouri) counselors will be available for appointments and walk-ins to assist you with the enrollment process.  To make an appointment call 1-800-390-3330.


October 3rd, 2019 @ 4:45  pm 
  • Scrapbookers wanted! Please come join us for a scrapbooking program at 4:45 PM. Have a project you are already working on, or memories you have been meaning to document? We will provide some supplies, but feel free to bring your own! This is an adult program for individuals 18 years or older. 

October 10th, 2019 @ 4:00 pm
  • The Knitting and Crocheting Group will be here in our Community Room. This is an adult program for individuals 18 years or older. 

October 17th, 2019 @ 10:00 am Health as a Whole
  •  Join Registered Nurse Lacey Sullenger, for health education and conversation in the Library’s Community Room.     

October 17th, 2019 @ 5:00 pm
  • Join us for a craft activity; no crafting experience required. We will be making autumn wreaths to decorate your home for fall!  Stop by the Ray County Library Information Desk to see an example of the craft and to sign up! Space is limited. This is an adult program for individuals 18 years or older.

October 23rd, 2019 @ 12 pm
  • ADULT BOOK CLUB: THE “CHOOSE YOUR OWN” BOOK CLUB IS SEEKING NEW MEMBERS! Do you enjoy reading and discussing books, but prefer to make your own book selections? This month, come ready to discuss a book of your choosing! We welcome everyone to come to try this unique book club.

October 24th, 2019 @ 5:30 pm
  • Genealogy Night is back! We will provide an introduction to the Library’s genealogy resources while helping you start your very own journey back in time through family history. The library provides free access to Ancestry.com, so please do not miss out on this opportunity to use this program at no cost to you!

Trick or Treat Street
@ The Richmond City Hall Gymnasium. For all ages! 
  • October 31st: We will be giving out the treat of a free book and no tricks!

Once Upon a Story Times
Mondays @ 10:00AM & 1:00PM
Best for ages 0-5, but all are welcome!
We develop pre-reading skills using STEAM, play and music, along with amazing stories!
  • October 7th:    A day of coloring and play! Let us learn about colors and what they mean to us!
  • October 14th :    Library closed in observance of Columbus Day.
  • October 21st:    Learn about what a hat does to the animals and decorate your own hat!
  • October 28th:    Dress up and hear some Halloween Tales!
Kid Times
Tuesdays @ 4:00 pm - 5:00pm
Best for ages 6-12, but all are welcome!
Come join us for STEAM powered events that include books, games, Legos, coding, play, physics and more!
  • October 1st:    Family game night- Come with the whole family to play classic games and new ones.
  • October 8th:    It is time to make! All you need is your imagination. We have the supplies!
  • October 15th:    Let us learn the science of candy making and the impacts of sugar!
  • October 22nd:    Adventures in Legos! Where science meets your imagination.
  • October 29th:    Come as your favorite character and enjoy a Halloween story night!
Teen Times
Wednesdays @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
For ages 12 – 18 only!
Come play games, socialize, learn chess, do mad science experiments and read into mythical and wild worlds!
  • October 2nd:    Games, Games, and more games!
  • October 9th:    The time is now to make it, from your imagination to reality!
  • October 16th:    Put science into motion with your own unique spin!
  • October 23rd:    Join us as Young Adult  Author Shannon A. Thompson shares on the writing process and her work!
  • October 30th:    Join us for tricks, treats and scares!


FREE Genealogy Assistance 
  • Do you need help with microfilm research?  The Ray County Library offers a unique opportunity for genealogy seekers.  We have 100+ rolls of film that contain local information. We would like to help connect local people with the past. Call the front desk at 816-776-5104.

Future Program Suggestions
  • Have an idea for an adult program? We are always looking to grow our Adult Program offerings! Stop by the Ray County Library Information Desk with your suggestion, or give us a call. Anyone with an idea will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the summer!

Homebound Outreach
  • Homebound outreach services vary depending on the needs of each individual and organization.  At the Ray County Library, we have partnered with organizations and facilities throughout the area to provide services and book delivery to homebound individuals. Participants of this service will receive high level readers advisory service, in which the library staff will gain an understanding of the reader’s preferences and make sure to select items that are specific to their needs.  Please call us at 816-776-5104 to enroll or find out more about this service. 

The Ray County Library’s Reserve a Librarian

  • This is a service which allows you to spend a 30-minute session with a librarian who can offer assistance tailored to your needs. This will allow you to reserve a librarian for an uninterrupted one-on-one, face to face, 30-minute session. Reserve a Librarian requires 3-day advance notice and requests for specific times are dependent on staff availability. Appointments are limited to 30 minutes in length to allow staff to serve the greatest number of residents. To set up a convenient time please contact the front desk at 816-776-5104.
